Six U.S. senators urged their colleagues on Friday to support legislation reaffirming U.S. support for freedom of navigation, saying they consider China’s recent actions in the South China Sea troubling.

China this week accused Vietnam of intentionally colliding with its ships in the South China Sea after Vietnam asserted that Chinese vessels used water cannon and rammed eight of its vessels during the weekend near an oil rig China deployed in a disputed area.

“These actions threaten the free flow of global commerce in a vital region,” Democratic Senators Robert Menendez of New Jersey, Ben Cardin of Maryland and Patrick Leahy of Vermont and Republicans Marco Rubio of Florida, Jim Risch of Idaho and John McCain of Arizona said in a joint statement.

China’s movement of the rig and “subsequent aggressive tactics” by its ships are “deeply troubling,” they said.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry accused the United States on Friday of stoking tensions in the disputed region.

China claims almost of the South China Sea, rejecting rival claims to parts or all of the oil- and gas-rich waters from Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Malaysia and Brunei.

The six senators introduced a resolution in April affirming U.S. support for freedom of navigation in the region and urging the parties involved in any territorial disputes to seek peaceful democratic resolutions.

Separately on Friday, U.S. Representative Eliot Engel of New York, the top Democrat on the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, termed China’s action “needless provocations.”

Author of the book "Tiananmen's Tremendous Achievements" about how with the help of Tiananmen Protests, talented scholars with moral integrity seized power in the Party and state and brought prosperity to China. The second edition of the book will be published within a few days to mark the 25th anniversary of Tiananmen Protests All the parts in the first edition remain in the second edition with a few changes due to information available later and better understanding. There are also some changes for improvements of style. The new parts are Chapters 12-19 on events in China after the first edition was published: The fierce power struggle for succession between reformists and conservatives; Xi Jinping winning all elders’ support during his mysterious disappearance for 2 weeks in early September, 2012; and Xi Jinping Cyclone. Chan Kai Yee's new book: SPACE ERA STRATEGY: The Way China Beats The US An eye-opening book that tells the truth how the US is losing to China. The US is losing as it adopts the outdated strategy of Air-Sea Battle while China adopts the space era strategy to pursue integrated space and air capabilities: It is losing due to its diplomacy that has given rise to Russian-Chinese alliance. US outdated strategy has enabled China to catch up and surpass the US in key weapons: Hypersonic weapons (HGV) that Pentagon regards as the weapon that will dominate the world in the future. Aerospaceplane in China’s development of space-air bomber that can engage enemy anywhere in the world within an hour and destroy an entire aircraft carrier battle group within minutes. Anti-satellite (ASAT) weapons, anti-ASAT weapons, stealth aircrafts, drones, AEW&C, etc. The book gives detailed descriptions of China’s weapon development based on information mainly from Chinese sources that the author monitors closely. U.S. Must Not Be Beaten by China! China is not a democracy. Its political system cannot prevent the emergence of a despotic leader or stop such a leader when he begins to bring disasters to people. A few decades ago, Mao Zedong, the worst tyrant in world history did emerge and bring disasters to Chinese people. He wanted to fight a nuclear war to replace capitalism with communism but could not bring nuclear holocaust to world people as China was too weak and poor at that time. If a despot like Mao Zedong emerges when China has surpassed the US in military strength, world people will suffer the misery experienced by Chinese people in Mao era. China surpassing the US in GDP is not something to worry about as China has the heavy burden to satisfy its huge population, but China surpassing the US in military strength will be world people’s greatest concern if China remains an autocracy. US people are of much better quality than Chinese people. What they lack is a wise leader to adopt the correct strategy and diplomacy and the creative ways to use its resources in developing its military capabilities. I hope that with the emergence of a great leader, the US can put an end to its decline and remain number one in the world. 1. Reblogged this on Liberalism is Trust Fucked with Prudence. Conservatism is Distrust Tainted with Fear and commented:
India ain’t on South China Sea; and yet Delhi gone on the offence.
India is afraid of China overture. Beijing may conspires with its Burmese Bitch State and motivate Myanmar Junta to exploit South China Sea maritime precedent to take away Smith Islands from India which are 1200km away from India on Andaman Sea.
Beijing is cheating Delhi in Kashmir and got Indian no guts to gun down Chinese troops who are crawling into Hindu and Muslim territories like komodo.
As spoiler, India exploited USA cannibal’s attitude beating war drums to subscribe to the warring factions to sell PENTAGONJUNK and keep the dying DoD alive.
India and China proved that they’re the most selfish narcissistic egotistical self-centered countries of the world.
When Mao Zedong seized power in China, millions of Chinese fled the mainland to freedom and took refuge in India, Bangladesh, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Korea, Japan and became subjects of those countries.
However, Chinese Sea Gypsies took refuge in thousands of Islands in South China Sea which China claims today that’s Chinese because they’re populated by Chinese sea gypsies.
China loathed those Islands because they’re costly to police. China population bomb hunger for seafood, hydrocarbon, metals, rare earth minerals and beneath induced China’s wrath, greed, sloth, arrogance, lust, envy, and gluttony.
Back to Vietnam; Yi Xianliang said that Vietnam rammed Chinese boats 171 but they ain’t got any video to prove it. That’s Proves my point that China has no problem to lie to the whole world to get those Islands.

  2. Dear my friends around the world,

On 2 May, the China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) deployed a giant billion-dollar oil rig (Haiyang Shiyou 981) to drill in a location 80 miles inside Vietnam’s 200-mile Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ – which extends offshore from every country).

According to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982), to which China is also a signatory, Vietnam is the only country that has the right to exploit natural resources inside its EEZ.

China has been using the so-called “nine-dashed-line” to outline its illegal claim of the Bien Dong (South China Sea). Beijing has awarded itself with the right to exploit resources in waters that it says belong to China. So far China has not succeeded in proving the legitimacy of the nine dashed line or in providing a clarification of it. Thus China cannot justify its latest action that clearly violates international laws.

Vietnamese people, including our soldiers, love peace. We struggled nearly 40 years for peace and freedom, that’s why we cherish every moment of peace. But we will utilize everything we have in order to protect our sovereignty.

We hope that peace loving people around the world will join us in the protest against China’s provocation in order to return peace and stability to the Bien Dong (South China Sea).

Thank you very much for reading this. Best wishes for you, your family, and every people from your country.

    Best regards,

For further information about UNCLOS 1982, you can see here: http://www.un.org/…/convention_overview_convention.htm

It is totally clear that China has signed this Convention. Actually China is one of the pioneer investors:
